In an age of pluralism and subjectivism, we believe that the Church of Jesus Christ must stand firmly on the foundation of the infallible truth of God's Word. We also recognize that there is diversity within God's Kingdom - ethnically (Revelation 5:9-10),Revelation 5:9-10 9 And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, 10 and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth." (Ephesians 3:28-29)Ephesians 3:8-9 8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, in terms of gifting and ministry (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)1 Corinthians 12:4-6 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone., and in terms of belief and practice in non-essential matters (Romans 14:1-6).Romans 14:1-6 1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.
Our great desire at First Baptist Church is to embrace as brothers and sisters in the Lord all who have been given the right to be called Children of God through faith in the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. Together, we rejoice in the privilege of having access to God's presence in Christ, and of gathering together for worship, prayer, and fellowship so that by His grace we can encourage each other to grow in faith and good works as God equips us for ministry in His Kingdom.
Paul's words in (Ephesians 4:1-6)Ephesians 4:1-6 1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit--just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call-- 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. are for us an exhortation toward a community of believers who, despite their minor differences, humbly and lovingly strive for peace and unity through the strength of God's Holy Spirit;
"Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit--just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call-- one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."
